I've missed you, but I haven't met you

The Civil Wars concert last night was INCREDIBLE! This duo seriously sounded AMAZING live. Their voices flow so beautifully together, and I love how they connect so well with eachother. With their chemistry, it's hard to believe that they are married to different people! ;) I was so mesmerized by them that I didn't even snap a good picture to share with you!

At their show last night, the song that stuck out to me the most was "To Whom it May Concern". Joy Williams, the female singer, was 8 months pregnant on stage, and she told the croud before they sang the song, that this song could be about anyone really-- (which explains the title of the song.) It could be about a soul mate that you are waiting to meet, or an unborn baby- in her case . She told everyone to think about what this song would mean to each of us in our own individual lives. I thought it was really interesting how many things I thought of that this song could be about. I thought of my sweet angel sister whom I have never met, but I have "missed her" being in this life with me. And I can't wait to meet her. I know I will someday, and I can't wait!

But the main thought that came to mind, is my soon-to-be-niece! Oh, how we have waited for this baby to come! My brother and sister-in-law have been through so many ups and downs trying to start a family, and I look up to them so much for their strength and courage for the trials that they have endured. We are SO SO happy that this precious little girl is coming into this world in the next couple of days, and I think all of our hearts are going to grow one size bigger after meeting her :)

So, take a second and play the video, and as you are listening, follow the lyrics below. It is such a beautiful song! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
And does anyone else think he looks like Johnny Depp?

"To Whom It May Concern"
by: The Civil Wars

Why are you so far from me?
In my arms is where you are to be
How long will you make me wait?
I don't know how much more I can take

I missed you but I haven't met you
Oh but I want to
How I do

Slowly counting down the days
Till I finally know your name
The way your hand feels round my waist
The way you laugh, the way your kisses taste

I missed you but I haven't met you
Oh but I want to
How I do
How I do

I've missed you but I haven't met you
Oh how I miss you but I haven't met you
Oh but I want to
Oh how I want to

Dear whoever you might be
I'm still waiting patiently

Loved this.

Music Monday

I think this song, "I've got this friend" by the Civil Wars is absolutely adorable. I love how they are obviously talking about each other! :)

Can't wait to go to The Civil Wars concert this week with my hubby!!

My weekend in pictures (and videos)

Ellie was with her dad this weekend, so Ry and I decided to make it a laaaaazzy weekend. Saturday, we ended up putting ourselves into a Cafe Rio coma for about 4 hours..... then attempted to play some catch at the park, but ended up collapsing on the hill still full from pork salads. Productive, eh?

Sunday, we decided to get our solar gear ready and drive 3 1/2 hours south to Kanarraville, Utah. Who knew such a place even existed? Apparently lots of people were on the same track as us, and there ended up being a ton more nerds like us there to watch the Solar Eclipse. We felt a little out of place without a huge telescope like everyone else had, but we had our plastic glasses, welding mask, and a six pack of IBC's. We were PUMPED. It was pretty sweet, and all I had to document it with was my crappy iPhone camera, which ended up making it look like a cheerio. AWESOME.

Solar nerds unite.

Being united with our sweet girl after a long weekend away from her is the best part of my weekend. She was so sweet when I picked her up from Grandma's house, giving me the biggest hug and showing me her new watch ;) ahhh I love this girl!

Quiet book for Ellie

I remember growing up LOVING to play with a quiet book that my mother had given me. Ellie is to the point where she does NOT stay still during church, and also for those long car rides, constantly needs something to keep her busy other than playing on my iPhone. I think a quiet book would be perfect for her! I have been searching for ideas online, because I want to attempt to make her one myself.

I came across some cute ideas that are giving me inspiration:

How perfect is this sandcastle idea?! Ellie would flip out with excitement.

This doll house tote is to DIE for....

Has anyone ever attempted to make a quiet book? Or does anyone have any ideas, tips, links that they would like to share? I am excited for this project!

baby gifts

I wanted to post the gifts that I made/bought for my future niece!
I gave my sister-in-law this popsicle maker from Williams-Sonoma. I got one from my lovely friend Kendra and it's so so cool! So I had to get one for my sister-in-law and her future little girl. It makes popsicles in 7 minutes! Awesome.

My sister-in-law Gina is a FABULOUS cook and loves being in the kitchen. So I thought it would be fun to make her future baby girl a todder apron! My sister-in-law Alli made one for Ellie for Christmas and she looooves it. It was super easy and fast to make too--

I was browsing Zara's website one day and came across this amazing infant dress..... I instantly knew I had to get it for baby Phoebe! Gina and my brother just traveled to Australia not too long ago, so I thought this kangaroo printed dress would be perfect for their little girl.
Go Zara!

Butterfly themed baby shower

I had so much fun throwing my sister-in-law Gina a baby shower! My inspiration for the butterfly theme came from the amazing nursery that she decorated for her soon-to-be baby girl. She has this fabulous butterfly print hanging above the crib and I fell in love.
It was fun having cousins, aunts, friends, and family over to celebrate the highly anticipated arrival of baby Duncan!

The shower:

This felt ball garland is fun to make by threading string with a needle through felt balls. Super cute and easy to make!

The baby pictures of Brad & Gina were to die for! :)

I served fruit and lime tarts from Kneaders. mmmm...
