glitter flowers

These are a little different version than my original paper flowers that I made.

What you will need:
-glitter glue pen (in a color of your choice)
-floral wire stick thingys (found at michaels)
-glue gun
-paper (in a color of your choice..I used pages from a book)
-rhinestones
-scissors

First, cut out your paper in a flower shape like I did in the picture below. It is faster to use a die-cut machine.
Next, trace the edges with your glitter glue pen.
When the glitter glue is dry, cut a slit into the center of your flower

Next, take your wire and bend the very end of it to a 90 degree angle. Try and make the angled part as small and short as possible so it doesn't show on your flower. (about 1/4 inch)

Dab some glue on one side of the slit that you cut.
Fold one side of the slit on top of the glued part of the flower, making a cone shaped flower.
Dab some glue in the center of the flower, then slide the angled part of the wire through the slit and the center of the flower, then press the wire onto the dot of glue. Be careful to not burn yourself!
While the glue is still hot, place a rhinestone on top of the wire part that is sticking out so that it covers it.
I added some fun glitter rock stuff to the bottom of my vase to match the color of glitter glue that I used.
                                                                                 Fini!

I have lots of extra flowers....If I were to do a giveaway would anyone want them? :)
I guess if you want to enter, just leave your email address!
i'll pick a winner on Monday
Thanks for reading my blog everyone!

New Years Eve attire

In my dreams, I would dress up in a sequined gown with bold lipstick and my hair pinned back. I would go to a fancy restaurant then out to a party to wait till the clock struck 12.

...........Or maybe I just watch too much Gossip Girl? ;)

Either way, my plans for New Years Eve are different than how my dreams play out. I will probably stay cuddled up in my bed with Ellie watching a movie.
Which will be a good night.

However, I thought I would give some ideas for those of you who are going out on
the town!
Sequins, sparkles, shimmer, and shiny- that's how I like to define this season's trends.

Here are some ideas for this weekend:

fabric flower garland

As you can tell, the crafty bug got me again.
I am in the making of birthday banners, baby shower banners, and baby name blocks.
Watch for pictures soon! I might start selling those bad boys.

Anywho, I came across this pretty fabric flower garland and fell in love. How cute would this be at a little girl's birthday party? or a wedding? or a baby shower?

great baby gift ideas

My best friend Whitney made these for Ellie for Christmas.
 How cute are they?!?
I'm thinking about making one for an upcoming baby shower that I'm going to.

Here they are hung up in Ellie's room.
                     Thanks Whit! I love them!

Here is the tutorial on how to make them, along with other fabulous

Ellie update-14 months

Ellie got a big girl carseat! She loves it. (and so does mommy:)

Ellie loves to get into the tupperware cupboard.
She carries them all around the house!

Introducing.............miss drama queen! Ellie's new thing is to throw "fits". She literally puts her head on the floor and starts crying. If she is this dramatic at age 1.....how is she going to be when she's a teenager?!? YIKES. I try not to think about it.

                                                                                     :(

DIY "Happy New Year" blocks

My brother and I made these wooden blocks for his girlfriend's house. I think they turned out cute so I thought I would share how we made them!

What you will need:
-paper (any color or pattern that you choose)
-stickers or paper letters
-Mod Podge (you can get this at Michaels)
-Sponge Brush
-Wooden blocks (my brother just bought a long 2x2 wood stick from Lowes and used our saw to cut into small pieces, but Michael's might sell them already pre-cut)
-stick of glue
-cutter or scissors

Cut the paper into squares to fit each side of the block. Try and make them pretty accurate on size. Then take a little bit of the Mod Podge on your sponge brush and brush the back side of the square with a thin coat. Press square against one side of wood and wipe off any excess glue with a paper towel. Do this with all sides.

We used a glue stick to glue on smaller squares of contrasting colors of paper to the first layer of paper that we put on. Then we used actual letter stickers to make it easier...... less glueing!

Then you take your Mod Podge and coat each side of the block with a thin coat. let them dry on some parchment paper. Then you can paint the bottom square. When you paint your block, it might freak you out because your cute square is covered in a white coating! But no worries! It will dry clear and give the blocks a nice, smooth, finished look that will seal everything together.
FINI!

Good 'ol Martha has the best ideas. Too bad I found this after Christmas!

Feliz Navidad

Ellie absolutely loved Christmas. She loves to listen to Christmas music and eat lots of Christmas treats;)
She got some great gifts this year. We are so blessed!

Ellie hugged every toy or piece of clothing that she got. It was too cute!! Here she is giving some love to a shirt that her uncle Brad and aunt Gina got her.

Ellie's other aunt and uncle Dan & Alli got her this Radio Flyer bike.
She won't get off of it! She loves it.

I have been thinking alot today about how blessed I am. My brother Brad and his wife Gina are in Brazil right now, and they were able to give Christmas to a number of less fortunate families. What an amazing experience! It made me remember about my trip to Africa and how they hardly have anything over there, yet they are so so happy. I am so blessed for my family and my friends and for the little things in life. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and may we all give thanks for all the blessings that we have!

Good tunes

Ferraby Lionheart has been one of my favs for a while now. Check him out HERE

cuddle buddy

My favorite thing lately is when I bring Ellie into my bed to sleep with me.
(she is the best cuddler.)
Usually she wakes me up by patting her hands on my face while she has a huge grin on her face or throwing her head onto my stomach while making her cute "awwwww" noise. But this morning, I woke up before she did for the first time. Isn't she a cutie!
