some more proof...

of her new talent. :)

reunited!

It has been 63 minutes since my baby got home from Arizona and the house is already torn apart, my cd is broken, her face is covered in pizza sauce, and I already feel like pulling my hair out. But all of that seems to disappear when moments
like this happen:

I couldn't be a happier woman!

Epic.

she came out with this sweet mask on. i love her

One of my all time favorite bands Blonde Redhead, played at the Depot last night. It was easily one of the best nights of my life! We were so close to them and it was definitely surreal. I was outside walking towards the entrance and out comes the lead singer from her tour bus. She walked right in front of me through the main entrance in front of everyone. She turned around and I was a foot away from her and we were just looking at eachother! That was my star-struck moment. haha and it was amazing. She was so rad in her little Indian dress. I LOVE her! The band was even better live, and they had the coolest stage setup.
I will let the videos do the rest of the talking.
Enjoy

remembering

Today was a good day.
I had all of my family over for Thanksgiving dinner except for my little lady...*sniff Sniff*
My two sister in laws and I split up the cooking to make it a little easier. I was in charge of making the homemade stuffing, hot rolls from scratch, sweet potatoe casserole, and ginger bread cookies. Gina was brave and did the turkey, and also made the mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a pumpkin pie. Alli made a green been casserole, a coconut cream pie and pumpkin brownies.
MY GOODNESS! Everything turned out delicious. We had one mighty feast...And we have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow for which i'm stoked for.

After playing games with the fam and watching Kung Fu Panda (which is hilarious, I might add), we busted out the 'ol Christmas tree. My family was doing dishes while I pulled out the ornaments and decorated the tree. I was by myself surrounded by silence and as I was taking out each ornament, I had an overwhelming feeling of my mother. Her and my dad would take us to pick out one ornament each year growing up. It was one of my favorite traditions. Looking at each ornament made so many memories rush through my mind.

I noticed that one ornament said "Julee" on it and I got pretty emotional. I couldn't help but think of the pain that my mom and dad went through when they lost my older sister. That was before I was born, but now after having my own child, I can't even imagine if that were to happen to me. My parents are amazing, strong people and I am very thankful for them.

My mother passed away when I was 14 but it seems like yesterday. I know that she was with us today- helping in the kitchen, putting up ornaments with me, laughing with us at the table, and crying with me. I miss her very much and I am very thankful for everything that she did for me.

Thanksgiving pants

I think we all need a pair of these for today! ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hate goodbyes.....

Do you see anything depressing about this picture?

Okay, i'll stop being dramatic. But i'm so sad that my little girl is going to be in Arizona with her dad for Thanksgiving! I dropped her off at the airport today and it was so hard for me. I won't see her for 5 days and that is 5 days too long!  Luckily for me... tomorrow is Thanksgiving! Resulting in unlimited comfort foods to cheer me up, then a concert on Friday to dance my little heart out at, and skiing in the blissful powdery snow on Sunday. I have to keep myself busy so I don't go insane!

We definitely live in Utah! It was frreeeezzing!

I hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving!

don't throw those party decorations away!

I decided to make the most out of the decorations that I made for Ellie's birthday party. So I put some in her room! why not?
Once again, please excuse these pictures for having horrible lighting...I live in a basement.

Yes, I STILL don't have curtains or blinds for Ellie's window.
Someday I will get around to making some....someday.
Lovely window well though, isn't it? ;)

'Save the Date' idea

book page wreath

I came across the tutorial for these bad boys on my friend's blog and I fell in love! How cute would this be next to a book shelf or you could even use sheet music instead of book pages and hang it next to a piano.

This is a cheap craft! and fun to make.
(but a little time consuming, i'll admit. Lucky for me, I have no life!)
All you need is:
 --a couple of old books

--some brown paint for the edges to give it a more antique feel.
(I used a pretty shimmery bronze color to spice it up a bit)

--hot glue gun

--a styrofoam wreath

Here is the one that I made--
You can fold the papers any way that you want, depending on the look that you want to go for. I wish I wouldn't have been all 'miss perfection' with mine, because I think it looks better with the papers folded different ways and a little bit messier:)

(I haven't decided where I want to hang it yet)

Want to make your own? Click HERE for the tutorial.
This is the one that my friend Nikki made. How amazing does it look against her green wall?? LOVE.

Meet my friend Jordan

new talent

little miss runny nose here, has a new trick. She goes around the house lifting up her leg. Possibly a potential ballerina? Yoga guru? I'd say she has the half moon pose down quite nicely for a one year old.

I apologize for the blurry picture, but the pillows are in great shape!  I only used them for decor.

din din

One of many things that I wish I could do, is cook.

I really want (need) to take some cooking classes. I am in a family full of guys, with no one really to teach me how to cook! (or at least that's my excuse.) With that being said, I have attempted to make dinner every other night for my dad and brother. Let's just say I feel bad for them having to be my guinea pigs for all of my failures. But tonight was a step above failing.
(i'll give me some credit)
I made one of my sister in laws recipes. Usually I hammer recipes but tonight I think I did alright.
and obviously, if I can make this recipe, YOU can. It's fool-proof and yummy too! So I thought I would share.

Festive Chicken

sauce:
8oz. Russian dressing-Wishbone brand
1- 16oz Apricot Pineapple Preserves
1 pkg. Lipton Onion Soup mix
6-8 boneless skinless chicken breasts
-white rice-

Dice chicken into chunks and cook in skillet on stove top with a little olive oil (1-2 tbsp.) on medium heat.
Keep stirring. Cook for 10-15 minutes.

In separate bowl, combine dressing, preserves, and soup mix and stir. Then add to chicken on skillet.  Cook on low heat. Sauce will thicken. Serve over white rice
(I doubled the sauce mixture tonight for extra yummyness)

Pair it with some hot homemade rolls and a salad and you're good to go!

My little assistant got into the butter. nasty!

Grampa and Ellie stuffed after dinner!
This is my favorite thing that she does.
She will just be crawling around and suddenly lay her head on the floor  and  say "awwwww" (proof of this cuteness in this 'first steps' video)
